Nathan Nath on November 3, 2009 | Has owned a 2003 Honda Accord

I had the privilege of buying a beige Accord in 2003. It was my first car after coming to US and didn’t want to spend too much. Some of the good points that I liked about the car – 1. Excellent performance in terms of miles per gallon 2. Very comfort seating – I had my parents coming and staying with us for 6 months and it was one of the most comfortable vehicle for them ever because of its low lying seating pattern which is perfect space for old aged people 3. The cruise control – doesn’t have to be guarded every couple of minutes unlike other cars 4. Space within 5. The trunk space – I was literally in love with the space at the rear. I hardly ever had to keep any stuff in the front because of the large space in the rear. My friends at time use to take my car while going to the airport because this Accord has too much of the space. That were some of my most memorable moments with this car. 6. No hassles to too much maintenance or breakdowns 7. Excellent performance in snow 8. Unbelievable resale value

Some not-so-good points about this car that I felt – 1. Not-so-great appeal – If you are looking for a car that has excellent style with elegance, I don’t think that this Honda Accord will come in top-5. There are other makes and models that you can turn to 2. As the car has become popular, you find so many similar models on the road. So if you are looking at having something special and unique then this is not the car to buy. You will find so many of them on the road 3. Because of the good performance of the car, it is hardly required to take it to the mechanic. So what happens is, whenever you need some maintenance or service, the guys are bound to charge you higher as they hardly get this car in service. So they try to make as much as they can from this one service. This is one of the major issues that I faced.

I will recommend this car to be a great buy for – 1. Young graduates for whom money is still a constraint 2. Those who want to get the best returns on their investment 3. Those who want to have a car with a great resale value 4. Good for working middle-class 5. Those who are looking to buy a pre-owned, this is their best bet for two reasons – this car will give least hassles because of its high manufacturing quality AND this will give you a good resale value once you decide to go for a new one. Additionally, it will also be a big help in reducing the insurance cost and if you are thinking of financing your car 6. Temporary residents on a short 2-3 years stint in US

Not recommended for – 1. College guys looking for sport editions. This car will bore you 2. Elite class who are looking for style, elegance, representation of their powerful image 3. Those who are looking for use-and-throw kind of models

Other good models that I might consider while buying this kind of car are – 1. Toyota – Camry or Corolla (any model after 2002) 2. Honda Civic (any model after 2004) 3. Nissan Altima & Maxima (Not Sentra) (models after 2005)
