Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed to its consistently high level of fit and finish and an impressive reputation for reliability and low running costs. High fuel economy, environmental awareness and engaging performance have also played a large role in making the Honda Civic a top choice for many Buyers. Honda has launched the sports version of the Civic they showed at the Auto Expo, the Civic Sport. The car is launched as a limited edition model to commemorate Honda’s milestone of selling 3 Lakh cars in India. As is the case with ’sports’ versions of the plain jane saloons in India, there will be no engine or suspension upgrade whatsoever, so all those hoping for a Type-R with the 2.0 Litre revvy monster can now sleep easy. Main Styling Elements & Additional Features in New Civic Sport: 1) Underspoilers at the front and the sides. 2) Trunkspoiler at the rear and rear under. 3) White alloy wheels. 4) Auto climate controloption AC. 5) Integrated 2-DIN, 6 CD changer. 6) Sport serial number plate. 7) Sports badging. 8) ABS with EBD 9) Dual Front SRS Airbags 10) Sliding Front Seat Armrest 11) Rear seat centre armrest with cupholders The Civic looks almost identical to the conventional sedan. Its cab-forward design pushes the passenger compartment as far to the front of the vehicle as possible. The design features bold front-end styling with a steeply raked windshield and sweeping roofline. Inside, a two-tiered instrument panel employs a digital speedometer, fuel gauge at the top of the dashboard, right in the driver’s line of sight. The tachometer, which displays engine speed, and other gauges are housed in a lower tier behind the tilting and telescoping steering wheel. The interior includes exclusive two-tone seating. Compared to the conventional sedan, trunk space is slightly compromised to accommodate the hybrid system’s battery pack. The batteries also preclude the split-folding rear seat found on other Civics. Honda claim an outstanding 55.4mpg combined fuel consumption figure for the Civic and CO2 emissions of 135g/km will also attract the attention of company car users. The engine has smooth pulling power from low in the rev range, with 251lb/ft of torque being produced at 2,000rpm. Its capable of an 8.6s sprint to 60mph too, with a maximum speed of 127mph giving it respectable top end reserves. The Civic offers a really good driving position with firm side bolsters in the seat for support and the headrest hovering just behind your cranium. The pedals feel well weighted underfoot and theres a large foot rest area to give the left peg a break from clutching duties
