This was the best car I have ever driven. I love the way it looked; it was sporty and cool, yet anyone could drive it. I love the way it drove, I love the gas mileage, and I absolutely loved everything about this car. I learned how to drive with my neon, the first car I ever owned. It was only owned by two people ever, and we didn’t have a single problem with it up until about a month ago, when we had to change the starter, and blew a head gasket. We couldn't complain though, considering it was driven ten years, with no problems what so ever, and nothing done to it other then an occasional oil change. We got about 32 miles/gallon, the entire time we had it, which was definitely nice, when gas prices went up. The only bad thing about it was it was a two door, and because of how small the car was when I got pregnant I had a hard time getting in and out of the back seat. And once I had the baby the car seat just barely fit back there, even with the seats all the way up, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with babies. Other then that though, this car is perfect for anyone, and definitely a great first car for new drivers. The only other thing that I did not like about it was the price for parts. It had a Mitsubishi motor in it, so all of the parts were considered imports. When we went to get the starter for it, it cost almost two hundred dollars for it, and we couldn’t find any used ones anywhere. We even put it on a parts tracker at a junkyard and there were none in the entire state of Michigan where we live. They told us because of how expensive the parts were; it is very hard to find used ones and that when they get them in they go quick. That did make it hard, since we don’t have a whole lot of money, and was ultimately the reason we got rid of it. We could not afford to fix it with the price of everything. It is really a shame we couldn’t keep it though, because I really did love that car. If I found another one, with an American motor in it, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I could not believe how reliable it was. It had 235,000 miles on it when things finally started going wrong, You cant ask for a better car then that. Most people make some kind of repairs with the first hundred thousand miles, but not with this car. It is unbelievable how good our neon was to us. I would almost give anything to have it back. I would recommend that if anyone comes across a 1999 Dodge Neon for sale, buy it, it will be well worth every penny you spend on it, I promise. It is one of the best cars out there without a doubt.
