My husband and I purchased our Optima a little over a year ago and have been very pleased. We drove this car across the country filled with everything we owned, and still got over 30 mpg! The only work we have put into our vehical is maintenance (oil change, tune-up, etc) and have gotten our money's worth. I am also a former Kia salesperson. As a person familiar with Kia's, I can honestly tell you that they are very good cars. The old reputation of the "broken-down Kia" is no more. Most models rate very highly, if not the highest among that size and type of car. The only negatives to owning an Optima, is that they don't come with a lot of bells and whistles. However, this DOES keep them in the lower price range. If you are looking for extras, most dealerships will be very willing to have them added to your car by a local shop. Overall, we are very happy with our car, which we named "Bessie." I hope you will consider owning a Kia. And on a safety note, their is a glow-in-the-dark handle inside the trunk, so that there is never danger of getting locked in. Plus, the seats fold down from inside the trunk. A great car!
