An SUV is a car which is best known for its utility. Today a great number of families prefer SUVs to small cars or sedans because of its comfort as well as spacious interiors. The Honda CR-V was one of the first cars in the SUV market which fulfilled this need of the consumer. Moreover it is within affordable limits of an average family. It remains one of the best selling cross-over cars in the US market. I personally have always admired the Honda CR-V. I really liked the old design, however now the new one has come into the market. It is bigger, more luxurious and more stylish and gives a fresh new look to this already reliable model of Honda.

This car can easily accommodate 5 people leaving enough space for substantial amounts of luggage. The baggage space is divided in two, one for heavy luggage and one for soft items. Ideally this car is perfect for a family of five, however facts prove that it is very popular amongst singles too. This car is also most liked due to its fuel economy, reasonable cost, its high level of safety equipment and its sensible design. While the previous model of the CR-V was more utility based than attractive, the new version ups the style quotient to a great extent.

The Honda CR-V is available as 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive, although it’s best suited for city use and to go on long drives. It has a 2.4 liter engine and comes with a 5- speed automatic transmission. Although manual transmission offers better fuel economy, Honda has opted for automatic transmission in all the CR-V models. The best feature I like about the CR-V is its interiors. The front seats are adjustable in height and both front and back seats recline. They can be folded easily too to create more space for luggage. The seats can also be adjusted backward or forward which is especially useful if parents want their children to be closer to them. There is also a conversation mirror built in the sunglass compartment. Cup holders are also made between the two front seats. The look from the front is extremely smart with 2 parallel grills and sleek headlights. The new model is wider and heavier, which gives more stability. Front and side air bags are important safety features present. The steering can also be adjusted in height. CD music system and a satellite radio are also present. I’m sure by now you must’ve realized how well equipped this car is. The higher models can also be ordered with a GPRS navigation system.

With so many great features, no wonder Honda CR-V is one of the most coveted SUV available. Ford Escape is another SUV in the same category and is even cheaper, but it is smaller than the CR-V.
