I love my Mazda 3!

I bought my car new about 4 years ago. It has been a dream. And I have put it through the ringer.

I've made no after-market mods to the car, so I can't comment on its availability to accept different parts, features, etc. The only modification I made is that I installed an ipod connector through the satellite port on the back of the radio head. Worked flawlessly and continues to work today.

Okay. More about the car. it's a dream for the price. I previously owned a Civic, which I was happy with, so I was planning to purchase another one. But I was passed on the road one day by a Mazda 3. Nautrally, it caught my eye. (beautiful car) So I went to test drive one and started to do some research. First of all, the car kicks. I have a 2.3L v4 and it feels like a v6. WHen I started researching price and features compared to the Civic, I was shocked. Better engine, better radio, better wheels, better features, prettier car, etc, etc, etc, all for around the same price point.

The handling is great. It has a very sporty feel (zoom zoom!) so if you're looking for a grandma ride, this isn't for you. You can feel the road, but not too much. And it corners very well. The car is a bit tall, but it doesn't feel like it when you drive. Stopping is great. The ABS system does its job well and the pads are plenty beefy for the car.

The interior is as pretty as the exterior. I have the cloth seats. They are sharp looking and very durable. The subtle lighting accents, and attention to detail is very impressive. The radio sounds great (I have the standard radio) and has impressive highs and lows for being stock.

Transmission is smooth. I have the manual and it shifts very easily. I drove the automatic and it was still quite sporty and very smooth.

I've put over 80,000 on it and have had no major problems. I've changed brakes and tires once, but no other repairs necessary.

Here are my only concerns with the car:

- Oil filter placement. You have to remove the plastic guard under the car to access the oil filter. Even then, the filter is a two-piece unit that is strange and tricky to replace. Special tools recommended. - Cabin noise. While the car runs quietly (not much engine noise) the road noise is a bit loud in the cabin. - Brake wear. Wore out a little faster than I'd have liked.

Other than that, this car is a dream! More expensive than a Ford or Kia, but worth the investment. Looks and drives like its at a much higher price point!

I'd recommend this car to drivers ages 16-50, especially those without kids. The backseat is large enough to accomodate a car seat, but I wouldn't want to try to squeeze in and out of there all the time.

Oh, I almost forgot. The glove box is enormous! Plenty of space for anything you want to stash in there. Seriously. It's huge. You could probably fit a 5 year old in there if you wanted. :)

Great car, great price. You won't be disappointed!
