I Bought this truck brand-new in 2005. I have about 50,000 miles on it now and it still runs like it did when i bought it! It was a little spendy when i bought it but i wanted something that would last me a long time. The only money i've put into it since i got it has been for oil changes every 5,000 miles and a battery (Batteries don't last long here in Arizona). Maintanence has been extremely low (compared to all other vehicle i have owned). I purchased the extra cab, inline 4cyl., with a 5 speed manual transmission and four wheel drive (hard to find combo). Driveability comfortable and at ease, and the Four wheel drive can get you through anything, and out of any trouble. The Negatives I do have with this truck are: the small bed, minimal power (Inline 4cyl)(V6 I imagine would fix this problem), can't tow much, can't haul too much, and the price can get very steep in a hury. But all of these were pretty apparent before i bought it. No bad suprises here when it comes to the Toyota Tacoma. What you see, is what you get...and that's a good thing! All-in-all, if you don't need to haul anything or tow anything, I believe it's well worth the money to get a good, solid, fun little truck, that gets pretty decent gas mileage that will last you a long time into the future.
