Built Ford tough

For generations Ford has been know for it's work trucks and the Ford F-250 of our generation keeps with the title of Ford tough. We beat on our work trucks, hauling equipment, going off road, gravel drives and even mud bogging on some jobs, and these trucks have kept up with all of the abuse.

This is a work truck and the basic model is just that…basic. It has comfortable seats, plenty of room in the super cab for 5 adults (though you may want to put shorter folks in the back), and rides smoothly for a truck and if you keep up with the tire rotations (if you don't a wobble will begin due to the odd wear of the tires). The heating and cooling systems work great, a little too good sometimes as we sometimes feel like we are roasting with the heat on. You need to have a lot and I mean a lot of weight on the back to even feel a slight strain while towing. The fuel usage isn't great in comparison to smaller vehicles but compared to other trucks it's size the 15-18 MPG isn't all that bad, not to mention if you invest in an upgraded computer component you'll not only get 20-23 MPG you'll increase your Horsepower as well. Maintenance is basic and easy to do in the back yard, the parts are moderate in price and will cost for a basic tune up and oil change about $80 or so if you don't go crazy with "special" after market pieces. Going to the dealer though can add well over $100 to your bill.

There are of course some recalls on the truck because no maker seems to be able to make a vehicle with out them anymore. There are some issues with this truck like the fact that the interior is a little cheap, for instance the paint on the buttons for the radio has worn off ( same happened in my Freestar). The electrical system seems to wear out faster than it should and chimes go off for no reason as well as some of the warning lights, but as I said we really beat on these trucks, and due to this we have snapped an axle or two but that was going in places the truck was not really meant to go into. Also bigger, wider tires are a good addition if you do a lot of dirt and gravel roads as well as off-roading.
