What is it? A big, gas guzzling SUV.
The Dodge Durango is uhm, an SUV from Dodge. It's as exciting as a carton of milk, and about as pretty. The front end looks ok, but the sides and back make it look like a Tonka toy. The old Durango looked better.
ROAD MANNERS: The Durango has a soft suspension which soaks up bumps and road imperfections quite well. But you pay for the smooth ride in the curves. It leans quite a bit and the steering is too light and vague. Off road however, the suspension works quite well. The V6 might as well be a 4-cyl because it has absolutely no power, unless you're going down a hill. The 4.7 V8 is better and the Hemi is best. But they drink gas like a sailor on a weekend pass, and they aren't as powerful as the competition. Nor are they as economical. Towing is impressive though.
COMFORT: The interior is actually quite nice, making it hard to believe that you're in a Dodge. Controls are arranged logically and the switch gear has a quality feel to it. Storage bins, nooks and crannies abound, and the optional DVD system makes the Durango very kid friendly.
PRACTICALITY: As far as a traditional Sport Utility Vehicle goes, the Durango is as authentic as they come. It can tow a lot of weight. Maintain its dignity off road. It drinks gas and handles like ****. It's sort of a Jeep Wagoneer for the 21st century...except it doesn't look nearly as good.
RELIABILITY: Durango's are usually trouble-free except for the occasional transmission cooler problem, or software/electrical glitches.
