The Hummer H2 is a vehicle for those that want to stand out from the crowd. Based of the HMMWV (in looks only) and built for the guy or girl that wants to look tough above all. Ok, you may be able to tell I’m not a fan so I’ll keep my opinions to myself as much as possible and stick to the facts.

There are some issues with the H2 to contend with. Just like any vehicle though, if the truck has been maintained well from new many of these problems will be avoidable or at the very least minimized. The A/C system can stop blowing cold air due to a pressure switch failure. You can expect to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $100. OnStar problems usually are caused by the Vehicle Communications Module. Expect to pay through the nose for this, well over $500; this effects only model years 2005.

If the engine fails to start or stalls, it may be because the tank is empty yet the gauge shows fuel remaining, or the fuel gauge will not show full after refilling due to sulfur corrosion of the fuel level sender. It is recommended to treat the fuel system with Fuel System Cleaner PLUS. If the problem remains, the sender may need to be replaced, this requires removing the fuel tank. Expect to pay about $600 for this repair. This issue mainly effects 2003-06 model years. Shifting problems, loss of power, or inability to move at all may be due to a transfer case leak at the output shaft and, after repair, a longer driveshaft yoke must be installed on 2003 model year trucks.

There were also some serious recalls you should look into before purchasing a Hummer H2. Some of these recalls are related to brakes, steering and other serious issues. Keep in mind that some recalls do have a time or mileage limit so they could expire.
