The Town and Country is Chrysler's higher end minivan, made for the mom who wants a little more class in her soccer mobile. Well Chrysler gave them what they wanted with heated seats, cd players (not a standard feature back then), and moon roofs. The body though basic does have some little curves to distinguish it from the others.
The seats are not only heated but also plush and very comfortable. There is plenty of head and legroom in all rows and even the back seats are comfortable. There is ample room inside to squeeze 5 people, 2 dogs and a ton of luggage in, with room to spare. The drive is smooth and strong with no problems going up and over mountain roads. It can generally handle any type of weather, with snow and rain not being an issue. The Town and Country can even tow small loads, though I wouldn't try hauling anything too large. The AWD is very good even if it does use a lot of gas, 15 MPG to 22 on the highway.
I have had to pick some of these vans off the road due to problems with water and snow getting into the brake drums as well as the transmission blowing out. As with most cars of the time the computer is very sensitive and may need to be reset often. The wiring is also done badly which causes problems in everything from the dash to the heated seats, not to mention the ignition and the sensors. It can cost quite a bit to fix some of these issues. The cost of general maintenance is not too bad, parts cost around $50 and add another $80-100 for labor. Note when buying parts that there where recalls on some after-market parts sold for this and other minivans, so be careful what you buy.
This really is a very nice and comfortable minivan that, after the issues are fixed, should last a very long time with just routine care.
