G6 ho hum.

My wife currently owns this car. I have driven it around town and on long day trips. This car is good basic transportation. It also gets astonishing gas mileage (we measure 30 mpg on trips) while still having good power. Acceleration is brisk, and passing power is very adequate. The transmission is pretty good for an automatic, I guess. On-throttle downshifts happen reasonably fast. I think its strongest point is its styling, and that fact is also its weakest point. I think it is kind of boring. Four doors, front drive, automatic, nice to look at. Basic transportation with a price reflecting more form than function. We have no kids nor responsibilities to speak of, and I think my wife should have picked something more fun to drive and own. Pontiac has the Solstice for about the same money, and that's just Pontiac (MR2, RX-8, Forester, ...). My wife did not test drive ANY other vehicle before buying this car. I think she only test drove the one she bought as a formality. I think that example must be typical of a person who buys this car. The kind of person that buys a car like this is the problem with our roadways; driving is about getting from here to there to them, and their head is not in the game. This car gets a C. You got the job done, but way more room for improvement.
