When we chose a used vehicle a couple of years ago my teens were horrified to find out it was a mini van: the Nissan Quest. When we got it home and showed the kids they said "hey, it doesn't look like a mini van, it looked kind of like an SUV". So suddenly it was ok.
Pros: 22mpg both city and highway. After several years and 160,000 miles it remains steady at 22mpg. Can seat 6 passengers. I once loaded 6 pro hockey players in it for a short ride to their hotel. These 6' plus guys were cramped in the back bench seat so that isn't recommended but they did fit. You comfortably seat 5 average size in the vehicle. 6 if the 3 in the back seat are smaller. Sliding doors on both sides make it easy to get in and out. LOVE the space in the back. The hatch lifts and with the seats up there is a well at the back that goes about 1 1/2 feet deep...easily fits my son's hockey goalie gear, sticks and suitcases for 4. Totally was the final selling point. SUV's just didn't have that room The back seat fold completely into the floor (the well in back) to create a large space for hauling stuff.
Cons: So far we are totally happy with this vehicle.
