Not the Classic but Still a Mustang

Although the Mustangs of the late 1990's through the early 2000's do not match the style and power of their ancestors, they're still a decent little car. Made for the single man or woman, this car has little room for passengers and can feel cramped with as few as two people in it. It performs well on nice sunny days but as with all sports cars can be a little iffy in the rain and down right horrible in the snow, though I do know people who swear it's fine if you change out the tires for ones with a good snow tread. The bodies' and their paint hold up well, none of the fading that occurred with older models.

When looking for a Mustang to purchase it is a game of hit or miss. How the car was cared for and driven, makes a big difference in what the shape of the vehicle will be in when you get to it. Those that where well cared for and driven well, can be in perfect condition, where those that where neglected and beat on will have transmission, muffler, engine and suspension problems. This car is low to the ground and often reckless driving will leave the under side ripped up so make sure you check for holes and rips in the exhaust system.

Cost of living with this car can be expensive. Gas mileage is not friendly especially if you drive it hard. As long as you can keep yourself from "special" parts, the cost of maintenance isn't excessive. There are innumerable amounts of after market additives for these cars but the basics will do just fine. Regular tune ups and oil changes are a must every 3-4 months to keep these babies running well. Also remember this car has an image and it will be reflected on you right down to your insurance that will be higher due to the fact. I give this car a rating of 3. It will never be in the same range as the classics but it has it's virtues. It's too bad it cannot hold up as well with it's abilities as it should. Sports cars are sports cars and if that's what your looking for that's what you'll get.
