The Toyota Camry is one of the most reliable cars out on the road. It may not be the most stylish of luxury sedans, but its long lasting shelf life makes it easily worth the trade off. Made for couples and small families in urban and suburban areas, it performs well, though power wise, the 4 cylinder may struggle a bit with steep inclines. The Camry rides smoothly and drives well in both good and bad weather. It even handles snow better than you'd expect of a vehicle this style. For those looking to purchase one of these Toyota wonders, there aren't very many large concerns to look for. On the most part look for neglect. If not serviced on a regular basis, wear and tear will take it's toll on the power steering pump, bushings, and gaskets. Check for leaks, and abnormal stiffness in the wheel. These repairs will cost money though they are not as expensive as others and will start from $100 and go up from there. The seat belts should also be looked at. They have a tendency to loosen up, or go the complete opposite way and lock up. Owners of this car should be diligent with it's basic upkeep. Oil changes and tune ups should be done at least 3 to 4 times a year, transmission flushes with new filters should also be done at least once a year. Usually around 90,000+ miles the struts will need a good going over, they are the one major plague of the Camry that I have seen. Do these things and this vehicle will easily last up into the 200,000+ mileage. The basics are not overly expensive and will range from $80-$120. Well worth the life span they will give to this car.
The body and paint job usually hold up well, though there have been a few with some small rust and or faded spots. The interior is roomy and can comfortably fit 4-5 people. The trunk is very nice and extremely large. These years had large gas tanks that will cost a pretty penny to fill up, luckily the mileage is good and ranges from 23-26 miles per gallon. I have rarely found problems with this car and it holds it's value better then most sedans.
