Although redesigned for 2009, Subaru Forester retains its horizontally opposed, four-cylinder aluminum engine; all-wheel-drive; and a tall cabin. The boxer engine configuration is good because it enables the vehicle to have a low center of gravity in spite of generous ground clearance. Its interiors are much comfortable and spacious. Its 2.5-liter engine is highly advanced, its system help spreading its 170 horsepower across a wide power band. I felt that its four-speed automatic transmission shifted gears under hard acceleration which doesn’t feel much lively. The boxer engine configuration is not as smooth as an inline engine. The transfer is just as seamless in all conditions, but it results in tight cornering and braking.
