BMW is Horrible

buzzgirl1980 on July 16, 2008 | Has owned a 1998 BMW 5-Series

I used to own a BMW and I immediately started having trouble a month or two after I bought it. I think it was a lemon! It had a wonderful engine but the transmission was incredibly horrible. Things eventually started falling off of it like it was made from garbage. The side mirror got ripped off; the logo on the front did too! My poor hood ornament! I had a permanent sun roof because the top part fell off. The child lock decided to stay put even when it was disengaged. The driver’s side window no longer goes down. Repairs were VERY expensive; the oil changes alone were a drag. It’s a status/luxury thing I’m sure but I will never buy a BMW again.

    Not believable!

It is believable. BMW has the very worst consumer satisfaction rating out there. They are very luxurious vehicles -- but they are maintenance nightmares.

I disagree that they are maintainance nightmares. I have owned two, plus a volvo and a ford. If you take a car in for routine maintainance and keep it up you do NOT have to go to the dealers--there are good mechanics, ask around. If you are cheap about making repairs, no car is reliable.
