Why didn't I go with a good ole Ford?

Ok, we thought we did are research when we were looking for a new van. I have 4 kids so we had to have something that was reliable. My husband looked and we found that the Kia had a great rating as far as safety and had a GREAT warrenty. Now we know why, it needed it! There are a few things I don't like about the van. We couldn't afford to get the long wheel drive so we got the short one. It reminds me of a SMALL SUV. If I could have afforded it I would have gone with the long one. Let me tell you about the mechanical stuff. We got the van brand new, had 2 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. I had my oil changed every 5000 miles like they suggested, but around 8000 miles it decided I needed the check engine lite to come on to help me find my way at night...lol. When I called the service department he told me that it could have been from anything...the gas cap wasn't shut right, the windshield wipers were off centered...you know something small and stupid (because I'm a woman and I don't know when a car is acting up.) He told me that if the van was running right not to worry about it that they would check it at the next oil change. No problem, the lite would go off and come on with it wanted too. ( I really thing the van is possessed...I should have bought a Ford.) To make a long story short, here it is week 2 and I've had a rental now for a week. My van has 18K miles on it and a new block but still doesn't run right. I do have to say that the warrenty is great though, and the road side assistance is good as well. I take comfort in knowing that if I'm stuck on the side of the road they will come and pick you up!
