I bought a 1998 528i in 2001 with 50,000 miles on it and an extended warranty. It now (2008) has 142,000 miles on it. Aside from normal maintenance, some quirky things like lousy cup holders, expensive repairs like the sun roof motor, rear trunk release latch under the lid of the trunk, and a few others, (but which ones aren't anymore on any car), this has been a really good car. I am able to get high 20's low 30's driving around town, low 20's in the city, and mid 30'son the highway. I do not punch the accelerator that much but when I do the car flies.
Roomy inside, not the biggest trunk, but those are minor details. They probably sell for less than $10,000 now and if properly maintained, are a great value.
