With gas topping $3.00 per gallon and no end in sight, the Prius offers a comfortable, reliable alternative for commuters who value fuel economy, comfort and value over speed. The Prius has a push button start, and is nearly silent when idling. Weaknesses include a sluggish acceleration, and increased road noise at higher speeds (over 75mph). Although a little slow on the uptake, the car rides smoothly and handles well at highway speeds. LIke other light cars, the Prius can slide around in icy or snowy weather. (I do not have snow tires on my vehicle). Strengths include stellar gas mileage, Toyota engineering and driveability and a roomy, comfortable interior. The space age dashboard is pretty cool, too. With Federal tax incentives still in place to encourage consumer acceptance of hybrid cars and no endin sight to rising gas prices, I highly recommend the Prius to drivers concerned about their emmissions footprint and the cost of fossil fuels.
