Problems

This friend of mine owns the 2008 Hyundai Elantra, and it has not been good to him. The problems began right off the lot and he has had trouble since. The gas mileage is great but the car itself is made very cheap. The interior is unattractive and the outside is just the same. The mirrors are smaller than most cars and the trunk is small as well. If you are in a bind and need a cheaper car right away this car will be ok. In town this Hyundai might not be so bad, yet on the highway you feel like the wind will blow you away. Steer clear of this car.

I disagree with the above post, about his friends car. First off I own the same car in blue, and if you think the exterior is unattractive then why would you buy it. I have had the car for a year and a half and have had 0 problems with it since then. By all means its not a bentley or a ferrari, but thats not what you expect. However at the time i did get more options with the gls than in the comparable civic, which the civic was not available at the time with heated seats option (and even with my employee discount as I work at a honda dealer the elantra was 10k $ less.) The fuel mileage is fantastic, as I replaced my older camaro with it. And for a car with 138 horsepower 136 pount feet of torque, it drives EXACTLY how it should city or highway. The cd player and speakers impressed me, as i had expected less quality and had planned to replace it, and it is an mp3 player. I do enjoy the car and put an average of 1000kms per week on it. Its no 1/4 mile drag race king, nor would I expect it to be. Nor would i expect someone to take someone complaining about someone elses car, seriously.

I disagree too,i have had my elantra 2008 for over a year and no problems at all, even before i purchase this vehicle i test the civic and corolla and the corolla 2009 has a real extremely plain interior, totally unattractive, and in the other hand the civic small, but the interior quality in the elantra ,blue light in its instruments just look terrific, great fuel economy, very soft ride, bigger than a corolla and civic and i tested that myself,i am 6'00'' and corolla was a nightmare ,civic as well very small ,also i got more standard equipment than the competence ,overall i feel very happy and for sure my next car will be another Hyundai,so i don't know what this guy in the first post is talking about.

I dont necessarily dissagree to the fact that there are always lemons. But as a whole for the company and moreover the car, I too would have to disagree. This car is outstanding and I would recommend this car to anyone. I have a lead foot and my cars take a beating. I've had this car for a good year and a half and I have had absolutely no problems with it. For a 14,000 car and for the things I've put it through I'm amazed at the craftsmanship of Hyundai.
