corvette's are too quiet...not putting an aftermarket exhaust on them makes you, the driver, look gay

Only if they actually use them properly. i.e. Putting an annoyingly loud exhaust and uncomfortable racing seats are just stupid if you never actually race the car. Bragging rights are worthless if you are uncomfortable.
