One of my friends had some drive tests for RAV4 and Land Cruiser. He was more impressed by RAV4 on offroad.

Nope. The RAV4 is usually front-wheel-drive, until slip is detected, which sends power rearward. For 2009, they've added a torque vectoring system that can send power to either of the rear wheels.
But compared to a Land Cruiser (or the Lexus LX570…or the FJ Cruiser…or the 4Runner…or the Lexus GX450) the RAV4 lacks the tires, ground clearance, and a lockable low-range. You may get through an obstacle once, but not twice.

The Land Cruiser is better off-road, but if you need a great 4x4 Land Rover is the best option.
