Can a car have too much horse power?

The 2009 ZR1 Corvette has 638HP. That's a lot! Maybe too much? There's many other cars with over 500HP these days. Does the world need production cars with so much power?

people are just dumb,if someone can afford the horse power and you want it, you should get it! no one is forcing the other people to.

each owner of a sport car, we need up to 1000 horse power. That is more than enough but we just like it that way and to bring their attraction to.

if a car has way too much horse power you will run out of gas almost instantly if you don't blow the motor first

Absolutely. There comes a limit where you have so much power that your tires just spin and you can't even move. Before the Veyron was introduced, Brabus tuned a custom Mercedes with 1,000 horses and the traction control wouldn't let the car even move. After they turned TC off the tires spun until they burst. The only reason the Bugatti can do it is because its extremely heavy.
