I work for Ford as a controller in an auto dealership. I have watched this corporation waste more and more money over the past 15 years. They continue to produce vehicles that do not sell, they do not keep up to date with what the consumer really wants in a vehicle and they do not listen to dealer owners. Ford should be ashamed to blame anyone but themselves for their financial problems. They need to stop the layoffs of good people and focus on some of the worthless CEO's. I do not feel that the government should bail out Ford without replacing some of the dead sitting at the top!

If the government does not bail the auto industry out all the little people meaning the retirees, and workers will lose everything they worked for. The excutives will not get hurt because they have already made the big bucks and have it in the bank, but the hard working men and women will lose everything and that is not fair

Yes...if bailing out anyone, should it not be middle America???!!! Did GM know that the greedy bankers and goverment were going to crash the economy? Does anyone know how many Americans work for GM or GM associated companies...MILLIONS. The economy will crash harder if this doesn't happen. BUYING AMERICAN MADE CARS would also help.

the government shouldn't help the auto industry unless the industry is willing to help itself by lowering overhead costs and building enough cars that are less expensive to operate, i.e. fuel efficient cars, solar cars, hybrids

Where was the government bailout for Nash, Studebaker, etc. Enough is enough the real issue here is the fact that the CEO's need to stop being so damn greedy and give up their bonuses....That alone would ensure stability in the future of the Automobile giants.

Why should we pay for other people's wrong doings? The "mismanagement" & the "responsibility" for that mismanagement of a company or for that matter, let's take it one step higher, the government, shouldn't be placed on the "American public" to have repair that damage made by others. And by those others, I mean those who talk a good game of what they think they know, but in the end they don't JACK!!

To bail them out would only stifle the competition offered by a new generation of automakers. Ford/GM/Chrysler all had their chance, and they ignored the demand of the American people for responsible vehicles. Instead, they squandered their competitive edge making giant gas guzzlers and the like.

If the government bails out Detroit, then we the taxpayers end up footing the bill. This will also end up just like the banks...more government control, less personal accountability for one's actions. If Detroit made more fuel-efficient, reliable cars, they would sell better and wouldn't be begging for a government handout. Mr. President, I implore you to shift the attention from the fat cats who waste their own resources and focus on helping those in real need be able to protect their homes from foreclosure.

The Big 3 should go into Chapter 11, reorganize and become competitive with the Japanese and Koreans. U.S. Govt. should give big incentives to first of Big 3 to bring to production an electric car that gets 200 miles per charge and is roomy and sells for under $30k.

It is not the responsibility of the tax payers to bail out GM or banks. Companies know right from wrong and they chose to not have their company running properly. Their are consequences for everyone and every business and American Tax Payers should not have to have the burden of bailing out businesses or the economy.

I voted no because the car companies haven't gotten a clue yet from Japan. They no longer try and build a car for the needs of people. Nothing in a normal price range. Nothing that saves gas. Nothing that looks good. The CEOs and other administration in the car companies need to be replaced. They have had years to take care of this problem but haven't. Need to start fresh. I hate it because I know I'm also causing with my opinion people to lose their jobs with these companies. The companies are at fault. They didn't care about their own employees to do the right thing when they had the chance. Seems all they wanted was huge bonuses and jet planes to fly around the world. The rest of us have to drive 25 year old cars and penny pinch. Something is wrong with these companies.

No way the Unions drive salaries up and now they should bail themselves out. If the govermant is giving out money I'm sure the taxpaying Americans would all love some. If 8 million is given out we all could have approx. 500,000.00 and aftertaxes would still have enought for everyone to be financially helped out with houses and such. Plus we all can afford new cars so its a win win. Free money is great but it should go to the taxpayers not the companies.

I'm tired of paying for morons expenses. They have a lot of money in their plants overseas, so why don't they use that money?? I'll tell you why! Because they would get taxed on it if they brought over here, so they would rather use our money to bail them out rather than bail themselves out. As Wyatt would say when the Sun Devils take the field in two weeks.........BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I own a 2006 Hummer H3 and I get 20mpg. The H3's are not gas guzzlers like the H2. It's definitely one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. General Motors didn't offer unrealistic mortgages like the lending institutions...they sincerely need finanical assistance and I think they deserve it way more than all those slimy mortgage lenders.

Well, I think it's a good point that the U.S. car industry is "just making the cars that Americans want to buy," but the Japanese are also apparently doing just find making *other* cars that Americans want to buy so it's not as if the Big Three's models are our only choices. There are other choices; the Big Three are not making those choices a priority. Here's an interesting take on the automotive industry's mess here: http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/2008/pulpit_20081126_005507.html

GENERAL MOTORS IS STILL NOT DOING THE RIGHT THING TO GET RIGHT. THE ONLY CONCERN OF EMPLOYEES IS TO CONTINUE PUT MONEY IN THEIR POCKETS AT WHATEVER COST. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO LIE ON REPORTS TO LOOK GOOD. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO SEND NON CONFORMING PARTS TO CUSTOMERS JUST TO MAKE THE NUMBERS. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO LET SKILLED TRADES MAKE OVER 30 DOLLARS A HOUR TO NOT WORK: COOK LARGE MEALS ON THE PLANT FLOOR, READ 1000 PAGE NOVELS A WEEK DURING COMPANY TIME, DECIDE WHEN AND IF THEY ARE GOING TO FIX EQUIPTMENT. THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE STILL WORKING WHILE THE PEOPLE WHO DID STEP UP TO THE PLATE WERE FIRED.

No If they are taking ther plants to China why are we still giving the our money the American Worker has been abused enough this year and last year we have already lost hundred&thounds of jobs already here and they are closing up more plants they were suppose to use the bail-out money to revamp and are closing up the dealerships that sell their cars to the public I thought they were suppose to get help also from the bail-out money who's helping them you all keep says unemploymnent is going down I guess it is they have already been maxed out and don't have anything left and I know people who can't even draw their's cause their not eigible. We got a real problem here the middle class main street as you call it is now the working poor We can't afford health care at 700 amonth we don't quailfly for subidized housing so we have to rent houses cause we don't quifly for aloan to buy a house and we can't buy a new car cause we can't get a loan for that either so where do you think all this money you are so freely spending is coming from it ain't coming from the Rich they don't pay taxes and the people on wel-fare don't pay taxes but they live better than the working poor I alreadly told you how to fix social sercurity you need to have the people making over $102,000 pay into it also instead of having a cap on it if a person making $10 million a year paid into it they would pay $1,240,000 a year that equals 400 people making $25,000 a year I know this change wouldn't be popular with the one making the bigger wages. I told you years ago the car companies CEO's and UAW were in bed together and were selling out the union workers I even co-wrote a book to get the truth out to the public DISPUTE THIS! I want the public to know how much we un-covered and how long the Government has know General Motors has been on its way out for years how it has alredy opned plants in Russia , India, and China you need to go to www.DisputeThis.us and order a copy today for only $12.95 then you too will know the real truth

UAW turned their backs on the american car union workers along time ago they fail to help them but they take their dues each month and they have been siding with the heads of Genernal Motors along please go to www.DisputeThis.us and read our book about all the corruption we on covered we wrote the book so the american people would really know whats going on it's only $12.95 and it's called Dispute This!
