I was planning on buying one for my son but he needs one that is not a gas hog. he runns it everywhere.

it doesn't get terrible mileage - 22/33 mpg. but, it's not great mileage either

My '95 TSi AWD got 20MPG mixed driving. Of course, the AWD eats up a lot of energy, and the turbo lets you burn it up if you have a lead foot.

the front wheel drive version will have good gas mileage, especially the non-turbo version since it's slow!
