I am looking for an economic and dependable car to mainly get back and forth to work. I don't want to get a car that is known to have lots of little problems. I want those who have one to let me know if the car is a good one for getting around town!

With a 2006 Freestyle, over a year now the problem gets worse. Very dangerous. The car surges while doing parking lot speed maneuvers. Happens both in Drive and in Reverse. Almost causes the car to ram other objects. Dealer says it is a known throttle body problem. There is a tremendous backlog of orders for replacement throttle bodies. It is July as of this writing, they say may have one in by November. Research on the internet shows that Ford has written a technical bulletin. That same vehicle has had to have a factory rebuilt transmission installed already. Also the wider side of the middle seats will no longer release and lay down. Saw that one on the internet also.

My 2007 had the transmission replaced a year ago (with 36k miles on it) and now they say the throttle body needs to be replaced, and I have to do it now because they cannot get parts in for another month or two. Also, as the previous poster said, I am having problems with the wider of the middle seat releasing, just happened yesterday.

2007 Ford Freestyle AWD- Where do I start with my problems with my car, first it was the air conditioning lines, then breaks, now the throttle body & after a week no solution in sight as to when I'll be able to get a part to fix the stupid car, & ford customer service dept can take a flying leap off a tall bridge, cause thats about how helpfull they are! Glad I bought an extended warnty b/c it's paid for it's self so far! If I had the money I'd ditch this car today!

I have a 2006 Ford Freestyle with about 60,000 miles on it. The little "wrench" light came on. I brought it to a dealer - put in the super duper computer and found it was a throttle body problem. I understand it could be dangerous. I do know my car started surging while at a stop and had a hard time stopping it - had to shut the car off. It was having to push half way down on the gas to go anywhere after I started it up. Long story short - paid Ford a substantial sum to have it "diagnosed" and waiting for the part. I brought it in late early September. Been waiting for the part - told it's on back order. I got a message today (9-29-09) that it is on "emergency" order but still won't be shipped until around 1 Dec. It was dangerous when it first happened - with my family and 13 month old grand daughter on board no and again - who's going to be responsible if something happens. One might say - don't drive it. My asnwer: who's going to pay for a rental then - I have to use the car for work and regular transport.

car has had numerous problems, rear brakes at 25k, transmission at 60k, now possible throttle body malfunction. Its a waste of money and a peice of junk. And the value has decreased over half in 3 years.

We have a 2005 P.O.S.(Freestyle) same problems as everone else at 80,000 miles replaced the airconditioner ($1,500.00), at less than 30,000 mile replaced the brakes for the first time. roof leaks when it rains and makes the rear seat belts soaked and unuseable so i feel real safe with my kids in the back. Heater in the seats no longer works be lost that feature. Front end seems to not be able to stay in line machine said it was inline had mechanic take it for a ride he said something isn't right about it. as of today the shop called and verified the throttle body is now needing to be replaced and also upper engine mount is broken. It seems as if the cost of ownership is way out of line when you spend $30,000.00 on a vehicle. I would tell you to stay as far away from the Ford product line as possible they seem to have alot of problems and it is as if no one at the dealership even cares.

My 2007 Freestyle has been at Thomasville Ford in Thomasville, NC since August 10, 2009. I cannot get any information from the dealership about the part so I have now started talking to the Customer Care Line at Ford Motor Company. I have left four messages as of today (11/5/09) and I have yet to get a reply back. I am beyond frustrated with Ford. At this point I would not buy another Ford if I had to walk first. As far as the customer service at Ford - well it is nonexistent. I have only had my car for 18 months and it has I think 33,000 miles. I have been making my car payments monthly but I have now decided that I will not make another payment to Ford Motor Compnay until Ford can give me an estimated time that I can expect my Freestyle back. I have been patient with them until the last two weeks, but this is getting ridiculous.
