Is this car big enough for me?

Flag
From crazydriver on June 6, 2008

Can I fit in this car? I think it's so cute and amazing to drive but I can't quite pull the trigger and buy it. I'm almost 6 feet! Will I be able to fit comfortably in this car for long drives?

You'll fit, but nobody will fit in the back seat behind you.

Absolutely. I'm 6'2" and 220 lbs on a good day. I fit in the Mini with room to spare. There is lots of room front to back, while the side space is a bit tight, but not a problem for commuting... Now going for an 8 hour drive would be a different story; but how often does that happen? Truth is, not often enough - buy the Mini!

You'd be surprised with how much room there is in a Mini; it's a great use of space...

Great as a second car, but you may want something more practical as a primary car...

Mini's are known to have a serious transmission problem. They have a CVT which is known to breakdown at around 30K miles. Ask Google.

You'd fit MUCH better in a New Beetle, which is also a bit cheaper, a bit better on gas, and HUGE inside compared to the mini.

The MINI has a surprising amount of space inside AND it is really safe.

Yes. You can fit with no problem but like others already pointed out, there will be no room for a real person sitting behind you. For the person who made a comment about the transmission: ONLY the automatic convertibles uses CVT and yes their reliability is in question. If you are considering manual transmission (no matter hardtop or convertible) or a more recent year automatic hardtop, that shouldn't be a problem. Actually the Getrag manual transmissions have very good reputation.

It's a mixed bag with these. I'm 6'4" and could sit in it fine, but hip room is cramped and there's no room for anything else.

It's big enough but the hidden costs are huge. Transmission problems can cost 5 and 6-grand down the line with no warning. BMW gouges on the repairs and parts. This is no Volkswagen. It is overdesigned for the price. I used to love it but there are serious defects.

I'm 6'1" and fit fine even in the models with a sunroof. Don't forget, this car was engineered by Germans — who typically leave a generous amount of seat adjustment.

not only is it small, but these cars are so low to the ground that you have real problems lifting up and out of these type of vehicles especially if you have bad knees or ankles or back.

I've got a MINI and yes! One of my friends is 6-3 and loves it. The only people who've had a problem are ones who are much wider at the shoulders. Otherwise it's amazingly big inside. Besides it's cool
