GM has invited us to drive the all-new 2010 Equinox, so throughout the ride- & drive event, we'll be on Twitter posting photos and comments from our drive.

So why are we telling you? Well, if you're interested in the 2010 Equinox, talk to us! Ask us stuff! We'll have the might of the GM public relations team at our disposal to answer all of your questions.

Is this the last of the "Old GM" cars or the first from "New GM"...or is there really a difference?

There's not really a difference. This was being developed long before GM went bankrupt (apparently they started researching just after the first Equinox went on sale.)
Compared with Chevrolet's previous "best effort", the Malibu, the Equinox is again far ahead in fit-and-finish, driving feel, and fuel economy. It actually gets better combined fuel economy than the Toyota Camry 4cyl, Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord 4cyl, or Chevrolet Malibu 4cyl…
A 3700lb crossover that has better fuel economy than a family sedan, and drives well too…that's pretty impressive.

What other vehicles does the 2010 Equinox compete directly against?

The usual suspects: Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV, Subaru Forester, Nissan Rogue, Ford Escape…and so on. It feels and drive much more upscale than any of them, but is less "functional" inside from a cargo standpoint than the Forester or RAV4. Oh, and it will only seat five.

I am looking for a new car and I made up my mind that I want to get an American car. I was looing into the New malibu and equinox. I am undecided on what to get. What are some pros and cons for both vehicles?

I've not been fortunate enough to drive one, but I hear this car is head and shoulders above everything else in the segment. Oh GM, if only everything you did was a home run like this.

@kobe The Equinox is far better than the Malibu. Only reason *not* to buy it is price…But the Eq starts at $22,000, and is very well-equipped. I think it's an easy choice ;)
