1) Turn the ignition off. 2) Pull the RCM fuse from the central junction box (fuse #2, 7.5A. also for the blower motor relay and the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control if equipped). 3) Disconnect the battery negative cable and wait at least one minute.

Hey, I am thinking of doing the same thing for my '99 Explorer. Have you done the work? How difficult was the replacement? Can you walk me through it? Many thanks
