timing belt or timing chain

The owners manual can be found at the dealership or tons on online places. I've not had a Camry that new apart to see the timing belt/chain. I think it's a chain but don't quote me on that. Call the dealer with your VIN# for sure.

I just test drove a 2010 Camry yesterday and the sales guy went on and on about how the Camry has a timing chain while the Honda Accord has a timing belt. ( He was using that as a big selling point, because timing belts supposedly breakdown a lot sooner and are a lot more costly than a timing chain).

Belts do breakdown (actually stretch) sooner than a chain, but the work involved to replace them is the same. The timing chain is normally more expensive than a belt.
