Believe it or not, that's "normal". Every car manufacturer has an allowable amount of oil to be consumed, and they are all at least 1 quart per thousand. I think that's a bunch of crap, but that's just me.

that is so not good!! I've been fussing with the dealer becuase i could not understand why a "NEW" car is consuming that much oil. Sometimes i wish i had NEVER brought the EOS.

Try Beeno?? sorry, I just had to. More than likely you have something (oil?) dripping on something very hot (exhaust manifold?) and it's burning. The fresh air intake for your HVAC system is just under the back of the hood, at the base of the windshield. I bet that's why you are smelling something. Try putting it into recirculation mode and see if the smell goes away.

I also own a 2007 Eos that burns oil excessively. The dealership has me bringing my vehicle in every 1,000 miles to document how much oil is being burned. The dealership said that this is "normal", however I disagree. There are plenty of high performance vehicles that do not burn oil like this. I personally find this to be a hassle. My Eos also has a terrible smell coming from the vents. It's a shame because I love the car, but have had too many issues.

I have a 2008 Eos - burning oil excessively too. I have never owned a car that uses this much oil. What happend if the car is out of warranty and the turbo or other parts needs replacing because of the oil burning issue? If VW state this is an acceptable ratio, I guess there is nothing to do except pay for the repair charges. I have also had a great deal of trouble with the retractible roof - it doesnt! It has been in for repair twice now and they just dont know how to fix it. I waited a long time for this car but regret purchasing it now.
