2008 Impala Drivers?

How old are you? I just bought one (a 2008 leftover that I got an AMAZING deal on) and I am starting to get worried I bought a car no one my age drives. I am 28 and I like the car. I have always owned GM cars, two cavaliers, a cutlass supreme, a cobalt and now an impala. Is there anyone here in their late twenties or early thirties and loving driving the full-size impala as opposed to small, sportier cars? Just looking for some same-ag-group impala lovers! :-)

Four cars before you're 28? I hope they weren't new, because that doesn't say much for the quality...

Only two were new. The Cobalt was a SmartBuy so I had to give it back, and the new Cavalier I had for a short time period because I racked up 40K miles in a year and since it was paid for, I traded it because I didn't want to fork over a bunch of money for things it would inevitably soon need and the warranty was gone. Just the standard 3 yr./36K back then. I have a full new car warranty for 5 yr./60K now plus the 100K powertrain and the 6yr. corrosion ones now. The other two vehicles were older cars. When I got my first Cavalier (my first car), it was 7 years old and had 117,000 miles on it so you can imagine that I didn't have it too long. The Cutlass was 5 years old and it was actually a money pit, only car I had with so many problems; it just kept breaking down, ignition coils, accelerator cable (which snapped while I was on a bridge doing about 35 mph), and a slew of other expensive repairs; it had to go. And that is when I started getting new cars (Cavalier with high mileage, Cobalt SmartBuy, now Impala) because I didn't want another headache of someone else's. I actually loved the Cobalt but I wasn't about to pay the balloon payment. I had no problems whatsoever with that car. I loved Cavaliers too and would buy another if they still made them these days. I even loved the Cutlass until it started robbing me blind. What cars did/do you have in your 20s?
In any case, still wondering if there are other twenty-somethings with Impalas! :-)

Let's see, in 1980, I bought a 1960 VW Beetle for $500. It had 36 horsepower and could only go 45 up the steeper hills. I kept it for 6 months and sold it to my sister for $300.
In 1984, I bought a new VW Rabbit GTI, which I put 186,000 miles on and "loaned" to my brother in 1995, when I bought a new Eagle Talon TSi AWD (think Mitsubishi Eclipse), which I drove until 2005 when it blew the head gasket at 180,000 miles, and I sold it for $1,000 over the internet to a teenager in Reno.
I replaced that with a new 2005 MINI Cooper S, which currently has 55,000 miles on it.
40K a year is a lot! If you add in my 3 motorcycles with about 80,000 miles on them, I've driven ~18K/year.

Meant to say, the reason the first car had to go, the older Cavalier, was that it blew its head gasket after awhile and the repair would have cost more than the car was worth, poor old girl. I loved that car. Was in the family for every mile from 1 - 117,000.

By the time I was 28 (I'm 36 now) I think I had 20 cars. None were new though.... I think I'm at about 34 or 35 cars now. And every one of them has been titled, plated and insured, not junk frames with VIN #'s attached or anything.

Wow, that is ALOT! Cool though that you got to drive so many cars. I will probably have this car for at least five years if not longer. Did you have any Impalas?

I'm 23 and I love my GMs. I've had an 84 Buick Regal, an 87 Cutlass and then an 82 Cutlass. Now I am driving an 03 Impala. Love it, especially considering its 25 years newer than my last ride. I bought it used and partially traded for my 82 Olds. I know what you're saying, I was thinking the same thing about the Impala, big american sedans. I havent seen many young people driving them! But it's so comfortable, smooth cruising on the highway, and definitely an improvement from my earlier cars. Besides, they're just a little more luxurious and spacious than those little compact or sport cars.

Im 18 and Im driving a 02 Impala. Its my first car. I love it. I've put quite a bit of money into it since i got it back in august. it was my grandpa's and he didnt do a lot to it so i've just been catching up on the routine maitainence that my grandpa didnt do. plus it sat around for 2 years. other than that stuff i think its a great car. I hope to get a new car in a few years... mine is already over 100k miles but I would definately get another impala if i could.
