Of Course, I learned on an old 1970's Ford F-Series Pick-up. Three Speed on the Column, with clutch travel of about 14 inches, yet didn't engage until the last 1/16th of an inch.

yes, learned on a 93' Ford Escort that didn't really require you to depress the clutch in order to change gears, lol... then had a Dodge Avenger with a nice 5spd

Sure. I learned when my dad took away my car in high school. Went stir-crazy not driving, so I learned to drive my boyfriend's Chevy S-10 manual. No funny stories from learning to drive it, but I did have to get it out of the snowbank my friend drove it into one winter. Sheesh! I think we all learned to drive on that thing.

My first car in HS was an auto ('76 Camaro), ever since I've had a stick in my possession ('80 Chevy Monza, '88 Nissan Pulsar NX SE, '88 Chevy Nova, '93 Ford Escort, '88 Subaru GL Wagon, '05 Mazda3 hatch) Learned on Dad's '80 Citation.

When I met my wife and was kinda interested in her, one of the first things we did together was go shopping for her next car. She insisted on getting a manual and that kinda sealed it for me. Even now, she insists that our kids need to earn how to drive on a manual.

I learned on a 1987 Ford Tempo. I bought it now knowing how to drive a stick. I learned on my way home. Now I have an SCCA comp license and heel-toe in the streets!
