Any suggestions out there...don't want to use a 1 1/4 hitch with the 2" conversion tube/coupler.

The specifications for a 2009 Impala (http://vlane.com/specifications/2009/Chevrolet/Impala/SS-specifications) calls for a Dead Weight Hitch - Max Trailer Weight of 1000 lbs, and a Dead Weight Hitch - Max Tongue Weight of 100 lbs.

Since a Class III hitch can handle up to 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. tongue weight, I am thinking that you might find it troublesome to locate an after marker Class III hitch designed for the relatively low towing capacity of the Impala.

You'll never find a class III hitch for anything this side of a 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck.
