Ford Explorer Rear End Noise

The Ford Explorer has it's fair share of complaints, and one of the top ones comes from the rear end noise. Ford put's synthetic oil in the rear ends from the factory and in my opinion, that is the problem. I like synthetic oil, don't get me wrong. I just think they get this junk from China. Anyway, if your truck is making noise here's what I recommend to all my customers. Change the rear end oil first. This will cost about $100. I'd say 75% of the time the noise is gone and even a year later they have no complaints. I think the other 25% of the time the noise (which is a symptom of poor lubrication) has been there too long and the damage has been done. Now it's time for a new set of bearings and possible ring and pinion gears to the tune of $1500.
