Chevrolet Malibu/Malibu Maxx lights failing

It seems there's a larger than normal problem with the exterior light bulbs on the Chevy Malibu and Malibu Maxx cars. If you have a brake light, running light, or turn signal light out, pay attention while you are replacing the bulb. If the base of the bulb seems discolored or melted, contact your dealer. There is not a recall on these, but GM knows about a problem with the 2004 and 2005 Malibu and Malibu Maxx light sockets. With enough, uh, persuading you should be able to get them to replace the bulbs AND sockets for not much money.
