my 1997 2.4 liter cranks and cranks but will not start., It has 110k and the timing belt has never been changed could that be my problem?

If the timing belt is broke, it will sound very different while cranking. More smooth and consistant. You need to figure out if you have fuel and spark. There are a number of sensors that will cut fuel or spark while you are trying to start it.
