Who's the real Stig?

I'm curious who the driver on Top Gear is.

    It's actually driven from a control room - similar to how the US operates their autonomous drone airplanes in Iraq and Afghanistan. No seriously - it's probably not just one person.. maybe a couple of x-forumla1 wannabees?

    There is recent speculation that Top Gear test driver The Stig is the professional stuntman and Le Mans racer Ben Collins. But the BBC responded that there are as many as 4 different drivers currently employed as the racer in white.

      I thought the whole idea was to test the performance of various cars on the same track with a consistent driver so that it would be a fair comparison.

      @HPX, Stig has been many drivers. You get relatively consistent performances because they're all top-level professionals, likely very little time separates them for something as "slow" as one or two hot laps around the Top Gear Test Track.

    when a stunt driver named Russ Swift came to my work place to do a show for a open day to advertise our tyres we sell there was speculation going round that he was the STIG or even maybe it was his son, he was a good driver when he was at my work but for him actually being the STIG im not too sure.
