I'm going to get one or the other, I just need other peoples opinions before I choose. I'm looking for something small, but big enough to go on a few trips to the son's baseball games.

if money is not a big concern.... GTI is much better.U will not regret about what you chose. If money is ur main concern, for around $12k.... u can have other better choice that XA

If you can afford the extra cost, the GTI is way better. The Scion is not in its league.

I owned both and though the Scion is slightly better in gas mileage, the GTI is much more fun to drive and has a much richer feeling/looking interior. In the end however, it came down to driving experience, in NYC, I wanted a car with good punch low down in the rev range and great versatility. The GTI fit the bill, perfectly.

The xA, hands down. Toyota reliability, inexpensive vehicle. Many parts used in many of other Toyota's so if there is a problem, it's an easy fix.

Sporty, good fuel economy, great ride, and good looks? Verses something slow, ugly, with a boring driving experience, and not much better mpgs? Seems obvious to me, if money isn't a problem.
