I want a small car and both of these are so cute. I can't decide which one I would get. I feel like the mini cooper's got a lot of hype and I've heard that the engineering in the beetle isn't as good. Can anyone help?

both good cars, but the Mini is REALLY small. The beetle is more fun, and just feels like a better car all around

Beetle is a great car...Mini is nice, but the Beetle has a better feel to it. The Mini can be scary feeling because it is soooooo tiny. The Mini also gets blown around in wind more than the Beetle.

The engineering in the New Beetle is German - JUST like in the Mini.

Mini is nice but in cities like DC with roads always under constructions it means you have a higher maintenance after the 3rd year keep the front end aligned - or the wheels properly balanced for those few road trips to Philly and NYC where it becomes really noticeable!

I love my 2006 MINI, great fun to drive and good on gas too. I'd only go for the VW if it was a TDi (as my Grandma's is) since the car falls short on the fun factor but the increased economy of the diesel makes up for it.

Not a fan of either personally, but I would go with the Mini. It's sportier, better built, isn't as umm...fruity-looking, and is altogether a better car. -Chris Automoblog.net
