  both are comletely different, if your looking for agility, mileage, and durability, go with the Toyota Taco. If your looking for something BIG, powerful and a good worktruck (taco is not a good truck for hauling stuff around) go with the Ford. I have a Toyota Tacoma right now (have had Fords in the past). what i like about the Tacoma is the versatility and i like my stick shift. the negatives of the tacoma to the Ford is the Cargo space and the power needed at times. if your towing or hauling anything you would have to go with the Ford. The Toyota also has lots of room in front, but as far as the extra cab goes not much room in the back (i dont know about the four door version of the Tacoma). Tough work truck: Ford F250; Good, Solid fun Truck: Toyota Tacoma.

  P.S.(to last posted comment) Toyota Tacoma Standard Cab with an I4, and a manual transmission gets around 24mpg highway and 18mpg city (depending on how you drive- I drive slow and defensively [ most of the time :D ])
