Community review: 2001 Ford Mustang
Banovsky on September 1, 2009
Especially with car buyers trying to save every last penny, our vehicle reviews are an invaluable resource. Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane.
Reviewer Liz Lantrip says her 2001 Ford Mustang:
It totally says that you are an awesome person.
Sold! Well, that's almost enough for us. Unfortunately, Liz had a few problems with her car:
I didn't like that it had transmision trouble at times. It would hesitate every once in a while and not respond if it was low on gas. The gas mileage was not near as good as my Chevy Cavalier, but it wasn't bad.
Still, though, she sums up her review of the Mustang with the following:
I loved every minute of driving in it, and would park on purpose near a window so I could see it out of whatever restaurant or store that I would go into. I loved this car so much, I was sad when I had to sell it. I'm happy it when to a good home though. My step sister now owns it and loves it too. I will forever be a Mustang fan.

Ford's bad-ass Mustang customizer
Banovsky on August 6, 2009
Many manufacturers let you "customize" a car on their site, but only Ford's lets you add a smoky burnout to the Mustang.
Here's our custom 'Stang, basically a 2010 Bullitt…if such a car existed. Head over to Ford's site to make yours.

What's the most bad-ass muscle car money can buy?
Banovsky on August 1, 2009
After I reviewed the Camaro 2LT RS, I got all sorts of flack from Camaro fanboys saying I was an idiot. I'm not, usually. So which do you think is the best top-range muscle car on sale?

Recruiting with muscle cars
Banovsky on July 3, 2009
The US Air Force has decided that the roar of hot cars may just be more exciting than recruitment videos. The result? Two crazy, crazy cars.
Teaming up with Galpin Auto Sports (The Pimp My Ride guys), the US Air Force has produced these spectacular not-for-sale show cars designed to drum up interest in joining the military. Still, the Vapor and Ford Mustang "X-1" are something else. The X-1 has niceties such as a driver's ejection seat, flight stick, and 500-horsepower. The Vapor makes do with a body kit, "stealth exhaust mode", radar-absorbing paint, and a 360-degree infrared camera.
Click through for more photos and videos of these two machines.

The 2009 1/2 Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang
Banovsky on June 23, 2009
Lee Iacocca is 85. Despite being instrumental in creating some of the most successful cars in the last decade — the Ford Mustang, Chrysler K-Cars, and the minivan — he hasn't yet dipped his hand in the ever
trashyclassy market of customized Mustangs. The 45th (we'll call it the 45th, OK?) is a Mustang GT with Ford Racing parts, bodywork redesigned by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters, and "Iacocca" badging all over it.
I'd take it more seriously, if the press release didn't say things like, "The Silver Edition Mustang perpetuates the Iacocca mystique." With lines like that, it sounds like Iacocca is Zorro or something.
Pricing hasn't been announced.

Car-themed mice for your computer
AshleyW on May 8, 2009
A mouse in the form of a Camaro? Upgrade your PC or Mac with mice…in the shape of iconic cars, including the Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Charger and Ford Mustang GT.
Unique computer accessories can be hard to find for car enthusiasts. I was intrigued to find out recently that a company by the name of Road Mice produces mice in the form of some very classic and well-known cars.
Offered as wireless or wired versions, your choices are the The Dodge Viper, Chevy Camaro, Chrysler 300, Chevy Corvette, Dodge Charger, Ford Mustang GT, and Chrysler PT Cruiser. All of these come in various styles and colours like the Black Ford Mustang with white stripes, Dodge Charger Yellow super-bee and the white Camaro with blue stripes. Also included with your mouse are working LED headlights, automatic timer, serial number, and a personalized registration and title.

Spring Is Here: Kreindler's Ragtop Guide
Derek Kreindler on April 20, 2009
For a warm-blooded creature like me, there are only two kinds of cars: convertibles, and everything else. I'm willing to overlook the impractical soft-top, the claustrophobic cabins, lack of structural rigidity and the sneers of onlookers just to get some wind in my hair (or what's left of it).
With that said, most ragtops suck (like the Chrysler PT Cruiser above.) Hastily engineered cars can suffer from all sorts of maladies; poor build quality, "cowl shake" (vibration of the front end of the car), decreased rigidity and reduced crash protection are just some of the drawbacks that occur in soft-tops. It's no wonder that most enthusiasts tend to go for a coupe if given the choice.
There are still some good choices out there for every taste and budget. From the lowliest Miata to the most ballin' Bentley, someone makes an open-top car to suit your needs. Click through for my favorites.

Happy 45th Birthday, Ford Mustang
Derek Kreindler on April 20, 2009
There is hardly a car more iconic than the Ford Mustang. Sure, the Beetle might be a more recognizable shape, but nobody lusts after the little Nazi-derived cucaracha. The Mustang on the other hand, woah baby. The angular styling, V8 rumble and live axle handling (or lack of) are the baseball and apple pie of the car world.
Over four and a half decades, Ford has made countless iterations of Mustang, some of them carrying storied names like "Shelby", "Saleen" and "Roush". It would be impossible to do justice to the story of the Mustang in a small format like this, so instead I've decided to pick my favourite Mustangs from each generation (excluding the bastard-child Mustang II) and highlight what makes them so special. Click through to see video evidence of the Mustang's greatness…
