2011 Maserati GranCabrio
Banovsky on August 24, 2009
…Is pure sex. Just look at it! Apparently to be marketed late next year and on-sale in early 2011, the GranCabrio completes the Maserati range, joining the Quattroporte sedan and GranTurismo coupe.
Want more information? The GranCabrio is powered by a 4.7 litre V8, 323 kW engine and is the convertible with "the longest wheelbase on the market." Forget the folding hard top: the GranCabrio's roof is strictly canvas-made, "emphasizing the link with the Maserati tradition."

Mazda MX5 Miata Superlight concept
Banovsky on August 10, 2009
Sure, we love the normal Mazda Miata, but for the car's 20th birthday, the company apparently has something special up their sleeves.
Apart from having to always wear a rain coat, it looks like the driving experience would be worth it…
Not much is known about this concept car, except that it was prepared by Mazda in Germany as the purest expression of a Mazda sports car. The saved top, no windshield, sportier suspension, and a few other changes are so cool that we almost don't care what's under the hood.
At the Frankfurt motor show in September, we'll know more. Stay tuned.

Porsche can't leave well enough alone. It's not like the 911 Turbo is a slouch, outdated, or unpopular. Apparently the Germans didn't agree, because for 2010 they've made a number of significant upgrades.

- Available 7-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (dual-clutch) gearbox

vLane's 4th of July Car Show Listing
Banovsky on July 3, 2009
We love cars. And there's nothing better than taking a stroll past some of the great classics that owners show during some of our nation's classic car shows.
This year, since July 4th is on a Saturday, there are a ton of amazing car shows across the nation. If we were a little closer to Gulfport, Mississippi, we'd be at the Motorsports Rods & Hawgs Party — which sounds like a great time. Thankfully, the Cash for Clunkers legislation won't be touching any of these beauties!
Take a look at some of the shows, and if you have any more that we can add, email us at editorial [at] motomozo [dot] com with the subject line, "Car Show" or leave a note in the comments!

Video: MINI hands
Banovsky on June 24, 2009
What do a roller coaster and a MINI Cooper Convertible have in common? More than you'd think…
So often I tire of big-budget commercials that seem to reach into my pocket to swipe my hard-earned cash. This spot, created for MINI in Canada, is simple: no special effects, no crazy driving, and a lot of crazy looks.

Community review: Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible
Banovsky on June 23, 2009
Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane.
Reviewer Maria says of her 2005 PT Cruiser that:
Cosmetically, it was everything I wanted. It has bucket seats and a rumble bar! There were compartments there that were needed such as a drawer under the passenger seat, a pocket behind the seat, drink holders, storage on the doors and even a pen holder! The leather seats were also was a great addition! It was overall perfectly designed for a woman.
She likes that her car is rare, too:
It is so cool to be the only PT Cruiser Convertible driving around most of the time. It makes the ride even sweeter because it represents my individuality and creativity.
But unfortunately, there have been a few problems:
The paint started to chip and started to rust even though Rust Protection was placed on the vehicle. More than likely within two years, it will need a complete new paint job.

Beat the Recession #6: Infiniti M30
Banovsky on June 10, 2009
In 1990, a year after Lexus arrived in the US, another Japanese company brought their luxury-minded wares to North America.
Most people remember the first Infiniti as being the Q45, a V8-powered super-sedan that aimed squarely at the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-Series. While that model enjoyed the media spotlight, the Nissan Leopard-based M30 luxury coupe and convertible languished on dealer lots. (Anyone remember the "other" Lexus that was brought in along with the LS400 in 1989?)
Even now, the car's specs seem good: 3.0-litre V6 engine, 162 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, 19 city / 25 highway MPG, and a price of around $26,000 for the coupe. (This is in 1990 money, remember.)
Other highlights? Infiniti said at the time that the first few thousand cars would be test-driven on a 20-kilometer route, to iron out any production defects before selling the vehicles. This was to ensure good quality, and judging by the M30s I've seen, it probably worked.

The BMW drive experience
AshleyW on June 5, 2009
When I first pulled up to the area of Downsview Park in Toronto, Canada, where this event would take place I saw all these BMWs — and I had no idea what to expect. Would I get to drive each and every one of them? Luckily for me and the many other people who attended, we pretty much did.
We were given an introduction by Saladin Karl, senior event marketing specialist, Driver Training for BMW Canada. He has been with BMW for fourteen years, and with BMW Canada for the last two years. He pointed out to us that we would get to experience driving BMW sports sedans and BMW sports sedan powered by diesel. He also said we would get to drive and compare three other cars that are in direct competition with BMW, a Mercedes, Audi and Lexus. Next was a very informative presentation by Chief Driving Instructor Pierre Savoy. He has held this role for the last eight years and has been putting on driving events with BMW for the last 17 years.
