Community Review: 2007 Toyota Corolla
Banovsky 4 days ago
Especially with car buyers trying to save every last penny, our vehicle reviews are an invaluable resource. Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane.
Reviewer sunil garg loves how comfortable his Toyota Corolla is:
I love how comfortable it is to sit in while driving, or even to sit in at the back. The seats are firm but not hard.
Still, he feels the interior materials could be improved:
The Corolla's dashboard plastic has nice-looking graining, and the controls are logically arranged. The cloth seats and cloth door-panel inserts look and feel dated when compared to newer competitors.
…and then he goes and says this:
A "Win Win" deal in every respect, best car your money can buy. Given a choice between a Merc and a Corolla, I would go for the Corolla, why pay in the high 5 when you can get the same quality and comfort in the lower 5.

Community Review: 2001 Ford Escape
Banovsky on November 10, 2009
Especially with car buyers trying to save every last penny, our vehicle reviews are an invaluable resource. Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane. This time, it's a Ford Escape.
Reviewer csqrd loves the driving position in her 2001 Ford Escape :
With the Ford Escape, I can sit in the driver’s seat and my leg can touch the ground. Although it does sit lower, you still have that “off the ground” feeling while driving.
We're happy that she uses the Escape as it was intended to be used:
We have hauled everything from people to landscape timbers. The back seats fold down flat, so you have ample space to work with. The back seat is split so you can still have a passenger in the back with some of the seat folded down for cargo. The seats are very easy to manipulate, and it only takes seconds to fold them down.
Even better? The Escape has been reliable:
I have had very few problems with this car, and no major mechanical problems. I am religious about getting the oil changed and keeping up with tire maintenance, etc. At 90,000 miles I had a full tune-up done, and it required new spark plugs and a couple of new hoses. It is about time for another full-tune-up.

vLane reviews: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
Banovsky on November 2, 2009
Here at vLane, we've got the opportunity to sample some pretty amazing machinery. But none have been more polarizing in the last year than the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. We've all driven both the V6 and V8-powered models…and our opinions couldn't be more split. Take a look at what I'm talking about…
vLane's take on the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro:
Herman says: "Starting with the cashier at the airport Park-N-Fly where I was picking up the vehicle, everybody had something to say or ask about the Camaro. She had been looking at the car sitting on the lot all day, and had come up with a dozen questions to ask me. I hadn't driven nor even seen the Camaro yet, so I didn't have much to say about the car at that point. As the valet pulled the car up and handed me the keys, he immediately started asking about the car's performance, though he had driven the car more than I had (all the way across the parking lot). It had been a long time since I saw so much interest and curiosity about a new vehicle…I was excited." link
Michael says: "And trunk space? Those sexy, sculpted, naughtier-than-Sasha Grey rear fenders come at a price: there isn’t much trunk space. The opening is too small, the trunk itself is too shallow, and — though the rear seats fold down — the pass-through isn’t American Tourister (let alone Parisian Tourister) worthy." link
Stergios says: "Personally, I prefer the looks of the 1LT base model: understated, mild mannered, and polite, for the every day driving experience. The SS2 Bumble Bee paint schema was a bit much for me to handle on a day-to-day basis, but something that would have much more appeal if this were my weekend ride." link
Fred says: "All-American car companies are looking for the way out of this mess they are in, and we think that developing modern, efficient cars with great performance, handling, and looks are the way to go." link
Derek says: "The Camaro is a synecdoche, a symbol of the new, vastly improved GM. But like the GM of old, the Camaro engineers forgot to put in that last little bit of effort that would make the car great." link

Community Review: 2000 Mitsubishi Montero
Banovsky on November 2, 2009
Especially with car buyers trying to save every last penny, our vehicle reviews are an invaluable resource. Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane. This time, it's a Mitsubishi Montero.
Reviewer jr1 says of the 2000 Mitsubishi Montero :
I owned a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero until this past year when I finally decided to move on to a new car. Throughout the years I owned the Montero I had some issues with it and overall I would say it was a below average car to own.
But why? What happened? Well, maybe the feeling of control was missing:
The ride was never smooth even after upgrading the shocks. The 4 wheel drive was troublesome on more then one occasion. I was driving in half an inch of snow once and the car would not go into 4 wheel drive. The tires slipped all over the place and when I slowly tried to stop the car it slid more.
And possibly a few electrical gremlins:
My Montero also had many different issues with the electrical system. There seemed to be a short someplace however, no mechanic could locate the short. Some issues that I had because of this were if you plugged in a cell phone car charger then the horn would continuously honk. Definitely very annoying.

Community review: 2005 Subaru Legacy
Banovsky on October 19, 2009
Especially with car buyers trying to save every last penny, our vehicle reviews are an invaluable resource. Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane. This time, it's a Subaru Legacy.
Reviewer spiffysrq says of the 2005 Subaru Legacy that it exceeded his expectations of a Japanese care:
I'll be honest, I am a euro car guy (BMW. Audi) but this car impressed me beyond belief. The burble of the Flat-4 engine is like no other. I compared this car to an 04 G35 Sedan, 04 Acura TL, and 03 BMW 330i.
Still, spiffysrq did possibly over-pay for his car:
The cost of the car is an issue some have with it. My car had only the turbo engine and automatic transmission, which priced it about $28,500. Which is a lot, but the real all wheel drive system is worth it for the price. I can hit a rain soaked on-ramp to the interstate and give the car the beans without worrying about traction.
Finally, this former Audi owner ended up very satisfied with the purchase.
Overall this car has been an awesome swiss-army-knife of handling, performance, looks, practicality and mod-ability. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a Subaru that just docent want to follow the pack and get a WRX.

Community review: 2005 Nissan Titan
Banovsky on September 28, 2009
Especially with car buyers trying to save every last penny, our vehicle reviews are an invaluable resource. Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane.
Reviewer trucklady858585 says of the 2005 Nissan Titan that:
Having driven small cars, I was apprehensive about driving a large truck. However, out of everything that I test drove, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Titan handled almost like a large car.
Still, her first complaint started with the stereo:
We ended up with the LE edition with the Rockford Fosgate sound system. While it is better than the regular stock system, it isn’t fantastic, and if you value great sound, I would recommend that eventually you update your system.
The practicality of the Titan and ruggedness has won some fans, though:
Although I don’t have the 4WD version, I have taken this truck on some rough terrain with my quads. The Titan handled the roads with ease…The rails that run down the bed of the truck really help you secure oddly shaped items with ease. We have traveled hundreds of miles with large items in the bed of our truck without worrying about anything coming loose or flying out.

Community review: 2001 Ford Mustang
Banovsky on September 1, 2009
Especially with car buyers trying to save every last penny, our vehicle reviews are an invaluable resource. Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane.
Reviewer Liz Lantrip says her 2001 Ford Mustang:
It totally says that you are an awesome person.
Sold! Well, that's almost enough for us. Unfortunately, Liz had a few problems with her car:
I didn't like that it had transmision trouble at times. It would hesitate every once in a while and not respond if it was low on gas. The gas mileage was not near as good as my Chevy Cavalier, but it wasn't bad.
Still, though, she sums up her review of the Mustang with the following:
I loved every minute of driving in it, and would park on purpose near a window so I could see it out of whatever restaurant or store that I would go into. I loved this car so much, I was sad when I had to sell it. I'm happy it when to a good home though. My step sister now owns it and loves it too. I will forever be a Mustang fan.

Community review: 2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Banovsky on July 27, 2009
Especially with car buyers trying to save every last penny, our vehicle reviews are an invaluable resource. Every now and then, we'd like to highlight some of the great reviews our community members write at vLane.
Reviewer Herman says of the 2009 Toyota Highlander that:
I was immediately impressed with how logical and intuitive the layout of the car was. There was no fumbling around to figure out how to adjust the seats, turn on the headlights, change radio stations, turn on the air conditioning, etc. Everything was where I had expect it to be.
From there, Herman enjoyed an often overlooked feature in more luxurious vehicles, the "smart key":
I'm always fumbling around to find my keys, but with the smart key system, I was able to leave the keys in my pocket and when opening the door, making contact with the touch sensor in the door handle automatically unlocked the door for me. Once I was in the car, I just needed to depress the brake and push the power button and was ready to get rolling. It's a small convenience, but one that I got accustomed to having very quickly.
