WTF Classifieds - Cars From the First Great Depression
LesleyB on September 25, 2008
No, not model year 2009. We're talking about the originals.
It's been a crazy couple weeks. Bankruptcies, bailouts, widespread ranting about personal and corporate responsibility. While nobody really knows what the fallout of adding $700 Billion of debt relief into the economy will be, many are saying it's the start of a major correction in the stock market similar to the Great Depression of the 1930's. What does that mean for the world of cars? If the 1930's were any indication, we're in for shorter, fatter cars without a lot of ornamentation, and smaller windows and headlights. Check out the evolution of cars through the 1930's. Oh yeah, and if you want the real deal, rather than waiting for future models, each of these is for sale on eBay.

Cool Commute: Craigslist Rideshare
LaurenG on August 5, 2008
It's like hitchhiking, but with some forethought and a small price.
If you find yourself needing a spur-of-the-moment ride down the coast, or your car happens to break down the night before an out of town meeting, why not try Craigslist's rideshare listings instead of booking a flight or renting your own car? Business on the rideshare board is busy, so there's no need to resort to hitchhiking, or shouldering the huge gas burden of a long drive alone.

WTF Classifieds: For All You (Little) Green People Out There...
LaurenG on August 1, 2008
Check Out This Awesome Little Car
Check out this 1970 Subaru 360, which came straight out of a Collector Car Museum. According to the guy who owns it, it's possibly the only one left in existence. This car is street legal, has a 3 speed with a 4th gear overdrive manual transmission and is in impeccable condition. The best part about it, though, is that it gets 66 miles to the gallon! It's not a car for the full-figured, however, or even possibly the full-sized. Check it out in comparison to the Mini Cooper in the pictures below.
If you can fit behind the wheel and don't mind the possibility of being crushed by something five times the height, you probably can't get a more eco-friendly and fashionable car for under $10,000.

WTF Classifieds: Things to Do With That $150K You've Got Lying Around
Alex on July 28, 2008
Good news! You might be short on cash, but other people aren't.
Lamborghini released its first half 08 sales and revenue numbers this past week, and unlike other automakers, (hello, Ford!) saw a profit of about $54 million. That's a 33% increase over the first half of 2007. The best part? They only had to sell 71 additional cars over the 2007 level to create that profit bump.Read full article | Comments (0) | Filed under Classifieds

Wtf Classifieds: Blame it on the Model T
Alex on July 10, 2008
You can't afford to take your car out of the driveway, anyway. You may as well drive a Model T.
We can't drive as much as we used to in the United States of America, and that fact seems to have people pretty ticked off. Everywhere you go, people are pointing fingers in one direction or another. Depending on who you talk to, it's either the oil companies, China, car manufacturers, the U.S. Government, one-car commuters, Britney Spears, soccer moms, India, Dick Cheney, the junk food industry, terrorists, a vast right wing conspiracy, a vast left-wing media conspiracy, peak oil, the myth of peak oil, greedy oil speculators, or a general culture of greed that has caused us this pain.Read full article | Comments (0) | Filed under Classifieds
