Social media is such a cool thing that we're constantly evolving how we communicate. Take #carchat: the first few originated out of a spirited conversation. We applied that logic to a special discussion about Cash for Clunkers (aka CARS), and invited automobile manufacturers — as well as dealers — to chime in and let us know how the program is going.

Cash for Clunkers is a hot topic here on vLane, and we want to keep you up-to-date on the latest news and developments.

Since our recaps are ever-evolving, we've included it here on vLane as a discussion thread, and we feel it suits the nature of the discussion well — and you can see that we had a huge response! Enjoy!

So? What are you waiting for? Click through to the recap.

Here is a great article about "Cash for Clunkers"...and I completely agree. What a BS program the government came up with!!! The approximate 200,000-300,000 people (out of how many millions of taxpayers) are going to reap the benefit of approx $3,000,000,000 of our taxes because they cant afford, or dont want to pay for, a new or used car. What if were not in the market for a new car? So, were going to overstimulate the car sales this quarter and it will create a negative ripple for the next quarter when the program is done. The money the government is wasting is almost as bad as the money they waste on our Welfare program (a program apparently designed for lazy people who dont want to work, except for the 5-10% of people who legitimately need it!!!) What an absolute waste of money!!! Give $4500 for cars worth $500 or less...
