Wtf Classifieds: Blame it on the Model T

From Alex, Featured Contributor

You can't afford to take your car out of the driveway, anyway. You may as well drive a Model T.

We can't drive as much as we used to in the United States of America, and that fact seems to have people pretty ticked off. Everywhere you go, people are pointing fingers in one direction or another. Depending on who you talk to, it's either the oil companies, China, car manufacturers, the U.S. Government, one-car commuters, Britney Spears, soccer moms, India, Dick Cheney, the junk food industry, terrorists, a vast right wing conspiracy, a vast left-wing media conspiracy, peak oil, the myth of peak oil, greedy oil speculators, or a general culture of greed that has caused us this pain.

Henry Ford's vision was of a well made car low enough in price that 'no man making a good salary will be unable to own one-and enjoy with his family the blessing of hours of pleasure in God's great open spaces.' Nice idea! Visionary, even, although we're not sure that spending hours under the broiling sun on the 405 freeway counts as one of 'God's great open spaces'.

You can pay tribute to Henry Ford, and make a political statement about his vision by picking up one of his Model T's. The one below will set you back $16K, which isn't so bad. It's a collector's item, so you probably don't want to drive it very far, but hey, think of the money you'll save on gas!
