Nine Carwashes That Do More Than Clean Your Car
From LaurenG, Featured Contributor
Posted 1 hour ago
Is there anything more American than the drive-through car wash? A visit to one can actually be sort of a mini vacation (there's something very relaxing about the experience, unless you undertake it with kids in the car, in which case it's something else entirely.) Nonetheless, with more people staying home from vacation this Summer and Fall, why not take a mini-break to the car wash? The following are themed car washes that throw a little something extra into the experience:

How Much Does a Speeding Ticket Cost? State by State Analysis
From LaurenG 3 days ago
If you're planning on getting caught speeding, head to North Dakota
Speeding laws and fines are complicated. They vary quite a bit by state (sometimes counties), and if you don't have a recent speeding ticket on your record, you might not be familiar with the fines. Here's a handy chart that shows you maximum speed limit, type of speed law, and maximum first speeding ticket violation. These are maximum fines, so yours might be less, depending on where and by how much you are exceeding the speed limit. Please note this does not include fines for things like reckless driving or driving under the influence. The penalties for those infractions are significantly more in most states. Data for this chart comes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (2007 data).

10 Most Repugnant Automotive Monstrosities of the Decade
From Brian Sy 6 days ago
This compilation might seem a little premature, considering the decade isn't even over until the passing of 2009 (or 2010, if you wanna get technical). But really, just about every car of the millennium's early years has already been shown to the public, and quite frankly, there are enough eyesores to fill a Top 40.
Still, reaching true visual repugnance is an achievement deserving of recognition. So after months of objective scientific analysis, we believe we've identified the ten late-model cars most deserving of a live burial.

Cars in the News: Saudi Arabia's Ban on Women Driving May End Sometime
From LesleyB on August 21, 2008
File Under: Places I Would Not Choose to Live as a Woman
No women are allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia, including residents and visitors. The ban isn't actually written into law, and it's not practiced in Islam, but rather is a fatwa issued in Saudi Arabia by conservative clerics and enforced by local police. However, social pressure may be gradually building in the country to change this. According to this article, one of Saudi Arabia's biggest newspapers, Al Riyadh, recently praised a woman who drove relatives critically injured in a fire for her bravery. King Abdullah has recently declared the issue to be a social issue rather than a religious one, which means social statements like the one made by Al Riyadh could impact the situation.
